William Wiltzbacher then moved to the Hazzard District. He bought fifty (50) acres from William G. Kilpatrick on Sept. 17, 1867, by deed recorded in Book S, pg. 469. The fifty acres was bounded on the North and East by Thomaston Road and the lands of Doles Church, and by Mrs. Eliza Johnson; on south by Mrs. Elizabeth Knight, on west by Thomas G. Smith and Richard Woolfolk. William Wiltzbacher signed his will Feb. 18, 1882. He died Apr. 27, 1882 and is believed to have been buried in Doles Cemetery on Thomaston Road. (No published obituary found in newspaper) The land that he owned was immediately to the west end of Doles Church property. Persons named in his will are: daughter, Josephine Schell; grandson Louis Schell, daughter Margaret Schmidt; daughter Carrie Barand and daughter Catie Wiltzbacher; son Frank Wiltzbacher, wife Mrs. M. Wiltzbacher of Colquitt County sold a half interest in William Wiltzbacher’s estate, begin fifty acres in fractional lot 238 in the 13th District of Bibb County. William Wiltzbacher may have been married before he married Margaret Stein in Bibb County July 20, 1854. Mrs. Evelyn Rittenberg, a granddaughter of Louis W. Schell and Josephine Wiltzbacher Schell says that Louis W. Schell had married Annie Wiltzbacher, a daughter of William Wiltzbacher, before his marriage to Josephine. It is true that William Schell married Annie Wiltzbacher on Jan. 6, 1867 by E. C. Grannis, J. P., Book D, pg. 271, Bibb County Marriages. She was too old to be a child of Margaret Stein and is assumed to have been a child of William Wiltzbacher by some previous marriage. Index to Ga. Civil war records show Captain H. Wilsberger, Co. Dickson, J. P. William Welzbacher Nov. 1, 1877 F-145 Mary Ellen St. Clair W. L. Hughes The Macon Telegraph, Saturday, Jan. 31, 1903: Mary Ellen St. Clair Wiltzbacher. Mrs. M. E. Wellbaker [Wiltzbacher] was buried at Roff Home yesterday. It was a simple pauper’s burial. There were no relatives on hand to shed their tears over the bier, yet there were sorrowing hearts, for all who had been associated with Mrs. Wellbaker had learned to love her. She was 73 years old and too old and feeble to earn her living. She had been compelled some time ago to give up the struggle of life and had gone to the home to be supported by the public’s charity. She was not followed there by the solicitude of relatives or friends outside the home, but she won a place in the hearts of her associates and all of the hundred inmates of the home soon learned to regard her as a remarkably good Christian. It is said that her influence for good was soon made manifest. Note: the newspaper had the last name misspelled. It should be Wiltzbacher. The Register of the Roff Home 1902 through 1933 in the office of the County Commissioners, Bibb County, Ga. Shows she died Jan. 30, 1903. William Wiltzbacher married Mary Ellen St. Clair on 1 Nov. 1877 by W. L. Hughes, J.P., Book F, pg. 145, Bibb County Marriages. ************** Note from submitter******* This is a document that I got from a book at Doles Methodist Church on Thomaston Rd. Macon, Ga. William Weltzbarker was my GG Grandfather on my fathers side. A interesting note to go along with this. My father was born in Colquitt Co. Ga around Norman Park. His father moved to Broxton, Coffee Co. Ga. when he was about 7 years old. (after his mother passed away) He grew up in Coffee Co. and lived there until about 1964 when we moved to Lizella, Bibb Co. Ga. He was under the impression that all of his people were from southwest Georgia and northwest Florida and that all of his ancestors were buried there. This past March(2002) he asked me if I could find out some information about his mothers family(Weltzbarker). When I got to checking I found out that his Great Grand Father and Mother were buried right underneath his nose. Doles cemetery is only about a 10 minute drive from his house. He was tickled to death! Needless to say, I have become hopelessly addicted to my genealogy research. I hope this can be used in some way. Just glad I could share something with other people...Terry McLeod Sep 2002
