A high wind was blowing, and the flames were uncontrollable. Among the merchants who suffered total loss of building and stock were: J.J. Boswell, George Adams, K.W. Horne’s drug store, J. M. Reynolds, A.W. Patterson, H. Kulbursh and J.H. Collier’s furniture store. Two or three vacant stores were burned. The telephone exchange was destroyed, also Dr. Hall’s office and the Odd Fellows’ and Masonic Hall.
