XX On the petition of Marsha Few over the age of fourteen years prays that Benjamin Few her present guardian may be dismissed & that Terrell C. Harrison may be appointed. It is ordered that Terrell C. Harrison be appointed guardian of Martha Few & that Benjamin Few be dismissed. XX On the petition of Jonathan Wood Stabury that he is apprehensive of sustaining loss by being security for Thos. S. Bayless guardian of Emely Marshall by the mismanagement of the said guardian and prays to be discharged for said securitys; It is ordered that the said Thos. S. Bayless appear at the next regular court and give other or be discharged from said guardianship; and it is further ordered that a copy of this order be served on the Thos. S. Bayless twenty days before the said court. XX The following accounts were examined, approved of and ordered to be recorded to wit, James Yarbrough executor on the Estate of Jess Albritton in account with said Estate. Nathan Crawford executor of the Estate of Joseph Marshall in account with said Estate. Georgia } By the Honorable Court of Ordinary of the Columbia County} Said County, Upon the application of the heirs of George Naylor deceased accompanied by a copy of an agreement in writing between Thos. Napier deceased and the said George Naylor also deceased Whereby the said Thomas Napier agrees to make titles to five hundred of land situated in the County aforesaid to the said George Naylor for a certain consideration in the said instrument expressed, and it being alledged that such title hath never yet ?????? Page 73 (Partial) Court Date: Monday May 1, 1837 The Petition of Mary Harrison formerly Mary Sanders. Respectfully showeth that at the demise of Elizabeth Parks, she made her last will and testament as hereby she bequeathed to your petitioner Three negro Slaves, together with land stock &c in trust with William Wiley for the use and benefit of your petitioner, since which time the said William Wiley trustee as aforesaid has departed this life, and the administration of the Estate of said William Wiley has devolved on William A. Baldwin Esq. who is desiring that another Trustee should be appointed and your petitioner pray that Augustus M. Sanders may be appointed trustee for the purpose of closing said Trust Estate and the said Augustus M. Sanders assenting to said appointment. It is therefore ordered that the said Augustus M. Sanders be and he is hereby appointed Trustee of the said Mary Harrison. It is ordered that Edward Ballard Guardian of the minors of John Pearce dec'd. have leave to hire out the negroes of said minors at private contract should the same appear advisable to him. Berrien Rice a minor of Samuel C. Rice dec'd. was entered as Indentured Apprentice to Anderson W. Faucett to be learnt the art or mistory of the Wheel Right or Waggon making business. Jones Record of David Stanford Guardian of Rebecca Stanford, now Rebecca Harrison and wife of John Harrison the sum of one hundred and eight dollars six and one fourth cents in full of the said Rebecca legacy coming from her father's estate this 25th of February 1839. John Harrison Upon the petition of John C. Smith administrator of the Estate of Weathers Smith deceased leave was granted to John C. Smith administrator as aforesaid (after giving four months notice in one of the Public Gazettes of this State to wit the Constitutionalist) to sell fifty acres of pine land belonging to the said deceased. Letters of administration was granted Frances Gray on the estate of Henry Gray dec'd. by her giving bond security in the sum of five thousand dollars. The following account having been examined and reported by the clerk was examined by the Court and ordered to be recorded to wit: The estate of James M. Pace dec'd. in ofe? with Abner P. Page 124 Dated: Monday 12 January 1824 On the petition of Peter B. Short, & William Scott Jr. pray for an order to sell a tract of land in Warren County also one tract in Columbia County & four negroes to wit, Jenny, Harry, Surrey, & Hopewell the property of Terrell C. Harrison of whom they are administrators on said Estate and on affadavit filed this day to the necessity of such a sale; It is ordered that they have leave to sell said property. The following accounts being examined by the clerk & examined by the Court was approved of & ordered to be recorded to wit: George Magruder as administrator or Zadock Magruder. Marshall Veryth? as executor or Nolby Whitcombe Martha Bull as administrator of Jesse Bull. John Lamar as executor of Lucy Lamar. Booker Sutton as executor of Jane Crabb. Turner Clanton as admr. with use? of Charles Clayton Simmons Crawford as administrator of Benj. E. Wenfrey James Burroughs as administrator of John & James Wood Benjamin Winfrey as Executor of the Estate of Jesse Winfrey account being left in the custody of the clerk of this court he made affadavit to the Situation which the account was left, that the Court could, the evidence so doubtful that they reserve for their consideration the same for a future review and particularly the Commissions charges in said account they cannot allow. On the petition of Sarah Powell, It is ordered that Wm. Riley be and appear before this court on the first Monday in March to show cause why he does not maintain the orphan children of Hardy Powell of whom he is the administrator. Page 458 (Partial) Dated: Monday September 3, 1832 Upon the petition of Obedience D. Burch administratrix of John Burch dec'd. for leave to sell the real estate and negroes of said deceased and it appearing to the court that due and legal notice of such intended application has been given & that said sale is for the benefit of the heirs & creditors of said deceased. It is therefore ordered by the court that said administratrix do proceed to sell said land and negroes on a credit of twelve months first having advertised the same according to law. The following accounts having been ordered by the clerk & returned to the court was examined by the court and ordered to be recorded to wit; James Smith for account with Mahala Jordan minor. Felix Prior guardian account with Owen W. Baldwin. Nelson M. Benton admr. in account with Est. of Nathan Benton dec'd. On motion of R. Hill Esq. the court decided that the will of Aron Park should be carried into effect by the appointment of an administrator with the will annexed. On application of William Wiley the court decided that letters of administration and said estate with will annexed on the estate of Aron Park shall be granted to him on his giving bond & security in the sum of Eight thousand dollars. Upon the petition of Peter B. Short and William Scott administrators on the estate of Terrill C. Harrison dec'd. stated they have regularly published a four months notice agreeably to law of their intentions of applying to this court for leave to sell a tract of land in said county adjoining lands of James Boyd, Sullivan Harrison & others containing by estimation three hundred Page 459 (above petition continued) and twenty acres more or less, if being a part of the real estate of said deceased and it appearing that such an order ought to be granted It is therefore ordered that they have leave to sell said tract of land in their complying with the terms of the law in such case made and provided. Whereas on the fourth day of November 1822 Horatio Gartrell administrator on the estate of Warner L. Kennon dec'd. & gave Jas. Lovelace & others as security on his said bond and whence the said James Lovelace has prayed the court to be relieved from said bond and this day came the said Horatio Gartrell with Joseph C. Rawls his security by letter entered into new bond in the same of one thousand dollars thereby releasing the said James Lovelace from further ?????? said bond. Juriah Harriss Nathaniel Bailey James Cartledge Letters of administration granted to Lewis Parks on the estate of John Parks dec'd. for the real estate only the personal estate having been willed away on his giving bond and security in the sum of four thousand dollars. The last will & testament of Mark Price Davis being read examined and ordered to be recorded & letters testamentary issued to David Holliman an executor in and by said will named & appointed. Letters of administration with the will annexed on the estate of Elizabeth Harrison dec'd to John C. Smith and Berryman H. Embree on their giving bond and security in the sum of four thousand dollars. Letters of administration granted Marshall Pittman on the estate of Nancy Sturges deceased on his giving bond & security in the sum of twelve hundred dollars. Upon the petition of Samuel Crump surviving administrator on the estate of Thomas Eubanks dec'd. showing that he has legally published his four months notice of his intention of applying to this court for leave to sell the one half of one hundred & eighty six acres of land lying in this county on the waters of Keg Creek adjoining lands of Wm. Jones, Wm. C. Stokes & others belonging to the said deceased and to be sold for the End of Page. Embree executor of John Embree deceased in right of my wife Elizabeth the whole amount bequeathed my said wife Elizabeth by the said deceased Oct. 16th 1827." Fuller appointed guardian to John Watson a minor of Joseph Watson dec'd. on the 12th day of January 1824 came into court and gave new security by which he released Adam Scott one of his former securities in terms of the law &c. Letters of guardianship ordered to be granted to Jeremiah Griffin on the person and property of Sydney G. Holland minor of Sydney S. Holland dec'd. on his giving bond and security in the sum of Five thousand dollars.
