W. Pace, Lieut. G. Ramsey Magruder, Company K, 16th Ga. regiment, of Columbia county, Ga. In the bloom of youth, full of hope and promise, of lofty, chivalrous spirit, his life has been given as a noble sacrifice upon the altar of his country. In less than three months two of earth's noblest and bravest sons had been taken from this estimable family, upon whom this last blow must fall with almost crushing force. Well might it be said of the departed, "Those whom the gods love die young," and death, chose shining lights in claiming these as his own. Their fixed principles of rights and sterling moral characters were well calculated to challenge the emulation and admiration of their companions. They are numbered among the "noble army of martyrs" who die that their country may live. Knowing the deceased well, and looking forward with interest to his future career so bright with promise, we cannot refrain from this brief tribute to the memory of one so highly esteemed, and from the expressions of profound sympathy with his afflicted family.
