GA Georgia} Columbia County} In the name of God Amen I Edmund Bowdre of the County and State aforesaid being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory do make, ordain & appoint this to be myu last Will & Testament hereby revoking all wills heretofore made by me. Item first I give and bequeath to my grandson, Edward Bowdre the following named negro slaves to wit Goerge, Tyler, Betty, Jim, henry and Clarissa. Also the sum of Five thousand dollars in cash to be delivered over to him the said Edward Bowdre when he shall have arrived at the age of twenty one years and also my said grandson shall be educated out of my estate in general. Item second I give and bequeath to my grandson Lucien Alexander Bowdre the following negro slaves to wit Kingston, Little Joe, Gary, Henry, Hampton and harriet, also the sum of five thousand dollars in cash to be delivered over to him the said Lucion alexander Bowdre when he shall have arrived a the age of twenty one years and also my grandson Lucion Alexander Bowdre shall be educated out of my estate in general. Item third If one of my siad grandsons to wit Edward Bowdre or Lucion Alexander Bowdre shall depart this life before he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years then in that case the property willed shall go to the surviving brother. But in the event both of my grandsons Edward Bowdre and Lucion Alexander Bowdre shall depart this life before they arrive at the age of twenty one years then in that case the whole of the property and money willed shall revert to my estate in general. Item fouth I give and bequeath in trust to my son in law John H. Trippe for the sole and seperate use of my daughter Everline Susan Trippe the one half of the balance of my estate both real and personal to her heirs and assigns forever the said property not to be subject for the debt of the present or any future husband she may have. item fifth I give and bequeath to my beloved wife martha Hicks Bowdre the other half of my estate both real and personal to her and her heirs and assigns forever. item sixth I nominate constitute and appoint for my executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament My beloved wife Martha Hicks Bowdre my beloved daughter Everline Susan Tripp and my son in law John H. Trippe. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of April 1850. Signed sealed & acknowledged in presence of Stephen Drane John Crawford Austin M. Jeter E. It is my will and esire that the property named and willed in the foregoing is all to be kept together and not to be divided unless my beloved wife Martha Hicks Bowdre shall consent to the division of the same. Bowdre (seal) Georgia} Columbia County} personally appeared in open court of the subscribing witnesses to the within instrument and being duly sworn upon the Holy Evangelist depose and say that they saw the testator Edward Bowdre then in life sign seal pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament and that the testator was of sound mind and disposing memory at the doing thereof and that they signed the same as witnesses in the presence of the testator and all in the presence of each other. Casey two of the subscribing witnesses to the above supplement and being duly sworn upon the Hold Evangelist despose and say that they saw Edward Bowdre then in life sign seal and declare the same to be a supplement to his last will and testament that thetestator was of sound mind and disposing memory at the doing thereof and that they singed the same as witnesses in the presence of the testators and all in the presence of each other. Stapler, Clerk Georgia} Columbia County} Bye the honorable the Inferior Court of said county when setting for ordinary purposes to all whom these presents shall come greeting knw ye that on the first day of July One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty the last will and testament of Edward Bowdre late of said county deceased was exhibited in open court and in common form of law proved and admitted to record a copy of which is hereunto annexed and administration of the estate real and personal of said deceased was granted to Martha H. Bowdre and J.H. Trippe the executrix and executor in and by said will named and appointed they having first taken the oath and performed all other requests required by law are by order of said court and virute of these presents legally authorized to administer the estate of the said deceased according to law and are hereby required to render a true and perfect inventory of all the estate both real and personal of the said deceased and have the same appraised and returned to this court according to law and to render a true and correct to the said court of their actings and doings yearly and every year until thie administration if fully completed. Witness the Honorable W.L. Blunt one of the Justices of the said Cour of Ordinary this 1st July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. Jno. A. Stapley, Clerk Co.
