BOWDRE Columbia Co. GA signed 3-18-1853 Recorded 5-9-1855 In the name of God Amen!!! I, Martha H. Bowdre, of the State and County aforesaid being of sound & disposing mind & memory & calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make promounce & publish this my last will & testament hereby revoking all others by me heretoforemade. Item 1st: It is my will that all my just debt is paid. Item 2nd: I give and bequeath to T.N. Hicks in trust for my niece Frances Jane Bowen, daughter of the late Edmund Hicks one negro girl called Big Milley to be held by him for her separate use & advantage not to ber subject to the debts or controls of her presend or any future husband. Item 3rd: I give & bequeath to Burton Hicks, son of my brother, Burton Hicks, one negro boy named Crocket. Item 4th: I give and bequeath to my grandson Ned Bowdre one gold watch to be selected by my executors. Item 5th: I give and bequeath to my grandson Lucien A. Bowdre one gold watch to be selected by my executors. Item 6th: I give and bequeath to Curtis H. Shockley and to Dr. William S. Jones the rest & residue of my estate real & personal upon the following condition uses, trusts & conditions for the separate use & advantage of my beloved daughter Eveline S. Trippe wife of John H. Trippe during her natural life & after her death to the children, but is no use is the said property to be subject to the debts or contracts present or future liabilities of her present or any future husband she may have but to be held & controlled exclusively by the trustees aforesaid for her ax children during the existing union with the said Trippe but should the said Everline ____ her present husband I desire that in that case she shall manage the property thus bequeathed herself so long she remains a widow, but if she again remarries the trust ___ to be resumed by my trustees above named who may be ___according to law whenever my daughter may desire to do so. Item 7: Should I not live to havey my husbands grave enclosed with a stone & marble slab with the usual Masonic emblems thereon executors are requested so to do and also to enclose or cause to be enclosed the graveyear at Belmont where my father is interred with stone. Lastly I do hereby nominate & appoint Curtis H. Shockley and Dr. William S. Jones executors tothis my last will. In testimony where I have herunto set my hand & seal this eighteenth day of Marh eighteen hundred & fifty three. Martha H.
