This file was contributed by: Pattie Causey pacausey@mindspring.com ==================================================================== PATRICK DOUGHERTY (1839 written in upper right corner) "Georgia Columbia County In the name of God Amen, I Patrick Dougherty of the state & County aforsaid knowing that man must die, and being somewhat infirm of body, but of sound & disposing mind, do make this my last will and Testament 1st It is my will and desire that my Executors hereafter to be named pay all my just Debts, and see this my will carried fully into effect 2d I give unto my Daughter Sarah Briscoe two negroes Jinny & Lucy and their increase also the sum of four hundred & sixty dollars before this had & advanced all of which I give unto her & her heirs forever 3rd I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Briscoe two negroes George and Mariah and their increase to her and her heirs forever 4th I give unto my son Archabald' wife Catharine Jane and her son William C. Dougherty two negroes Peggy and Mat and increase to them and their heirs forever, the above three legacys has been advanced and is in their several Possessions. 5th I give to my Grandson Patrick Briscoe the Boy Amos 6th It is my will & desire that my Executors hire from year to year my Blacksmith Elie and Allen the money arising therefrom to be appropriated for the support & comfort of my beloved wife Ann Dougherty, she to live with either of her daughters Elizabeth or Sarah at will, the two Boys Elie and Allen to be sold after her death and the money equally divided among all my children Archabald' son William taking his fathers potion. 7th It is my will & desire that my three sons, James Dougherty John Dougherty & William Dougherty receive each of my undivided estate potions equal in kind & value to that given to the other three at the time their lagacies are given 8th It is also my Will and desire that all the remainder of my Estate both real & Personal be sold and equally divided among all my children Archabalds son William Taking his Father's potion, Deducting from William Doughertys potion six hundred & fifty Dollars money already advanced him, also Four hundred & sixty Dollars to be deducted from Raph Briscoe ? potion which amt has been advanced him, in right of his wife Sarah Lastly. It is my desire that my sons James John & William & my sons in Law John Briscoe & Raph Briscoe act as my Executors. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand & afix my seal this the 12th Octr. 1839.
