Green built, in 1857, a home called Cedar Vale in the Winfield Community of Columbia County, GA. "Green Dozier never purchased anything. He had a grist mill and cotton gin and raised or made everything on the place. Last Will and Testament of Green J. Dozier deceased * Georgia * In the name of God ÄÄ Amen ÄÄ Columbia County* I Green J. Dozier of the County and State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make ordain and constitute this my last Will and Testament. Item 1st It is my Will and desire that my executor hereinafter named pay all my just debts including the costs of a decent burial of my body with any money I may leave on hand or arising from the Sale of my property or collection of any debts due me. Item 2nd The balance and residue of my Estate both Real and personal of every description whatever I will and bequeath to my beloved Children (Viz) William W. Dozier, Erasmus J. Dozier, Ignatius J. Dozier, Salina C. Smith and the children of my deceased Sons and daughters (Viz) Albert G. Dozier, Williamson W. Dozier, Frances J. Hardwick and Martha A. E. Peoples, Each set of children to have their Fathers amd Mothers interest. The above named eight legatees to share and share alike in my estate With the following provisions and expectations (Viz) 1st. The children of my deceased son Albert G. Dozier to receive in part payment of their distributive or equal share all notes or other claims I may hold against their Mother Jane M. [W?] Dozier. 2nd. The children of my deceased daughter Frances J. Hardwick to receive in part payment of their distributive or equal share a certain note held by me against their deceased Mother. 3d. The Children of my deceased daughter Martha A. E. Peoples to receive in part payment of their distributive or equal share a certain note which I hold against their Father for Two Hundred dollars principal and four hundred [dollars] which I have advanced him for which I have no note ÄÄ making six hundred dollars. 4th. My two Sons William H. and Ignatius J. Dozier are justly indebted to my daughter Salina C. Smith about Twelve hundred dollars a fair equivalent or Settlement for Six hundred [dollars] from each. I therefore in order to effect a Settlement between them Will and bequeath unto my daughter Salina C. Smith Twelve hundred dollars more than a distributive or equal share in my estate and to said William H. and Ignatius J. Dozier Six hundred dollars each less than a distributive or equal share upon the following condition (Viz) Said Salina C and her husband Charles E. Smith to accept the above willed twelve hundred dollars more than an equal share as full and satisfactory Settlement of all claimed (including both principal and interest) held by them against said William H. and Ignatius J. Dozier. Now should Salina C. and Charles E. Smith refuse to accept the above willed Twelve hundred dollars as a full and satisfactory settlement of said claims then this clause or provision of my will be null and void and said William H. and Ignatius J. Dozier to share and share alike with said Salina C. and others and their Shares or interest while in my executors hands not to be subject to the payment of said claims nor any other claims. Item 3rd I do hereby appoint and constitute my friend Richard Neal my executor to carry out this my last Will and Testament. Green J. Dozier Signed sealed and acknowledged in presence of F. M. Dunn, and John H. Boyd and being duly sworn [declare] that they saw Green J. Dozier sign and publish the within as his last Will and Testament while of sound and disposing mind that they Witnessed the same for him at his request and in his presence and of each other and that the same was expected voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed.
