Item first: I will and direct that all my just debts (if any there be at the time of my death) be paid as soon as possible after my death. Item second: I desire that any notes, mortgages or any other evidence of indebtedness that I may hold against my nephews, Julian B. Lamkin, Robert Willie Lamkin, or James A. Lamkin at the time of my death shall be cancelled and returned to the maker thereof. Item third: I give, devise and bequeath unto Ida Chamblin of Columbia County, Georgia lying on both sides of the Petersburg Road and on the south side of Scotts Ferry Road, containing seven hundred (700) acres more or less, and adjoining lands of R. W. Lamkin, McDaniel, land formerly of Reid estate, of testatrix and others; also ten shares of the capital stock of the Enterprise Manufacturing Company of Augusta, Georgia; also two scarf pins and (1) diamond ring to have and to hold said property for and during the period of her natural life with remainder in fee simple at her death to such child or children or descendants of child or children as she may leave living per stripes and not per capita. In the event that she the said Ida Chamblin, should die without issue or their descendants living, said property shall go at the death of said Ida to the descendants of my nephews Julian B Lamkin, Robert Willie Lamkin, and James A Lamkin as provided in item twelfth (12) of this will. Item Fourth: I devise, give and bequeath to Ida Chamblain in fee simple the bed, bedding and furniture in her room at "Oak Hill". Item Fifth: I give, devise and bequeath to Lizzie Snead Kirsh Ten (10) shares of the Capital stock of the Augusta Gas Light Company and my turquoise diamond ring in fee simple. Item Sixth: I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved husband, Francis Edgeworth Eve, Thirty (30) shares of the Capital stock of the Augusta Factory for and during his natural life with remainder at his death as follows: Ten (10) shares to Ethel Lamkin for and during her natural life with remainder at her death to her child or children or descendants of child or children then upon the same terms and conditions as those to Ethel. In the event that any of said remaindermen, Ethel, Daisy or Edgeworth Eve, should die before said Francis Edgeworth Eve without leaving issue or their descendants, such shares os left to them or any of them shall upon the happening of such death or deaths pass in fee in equal shares to the children of James A Lamkin then in life, children to stand in place of deceased parent and to take per stirpes and not per capita. Item Seventh: I devise, give and bequeath to Ethel Lamkin in fee simple my diamond earrings, pendant and piano. Item Eighth: I give, devise and bequeath to my dearly beloved husband, Frances Edgeworth Eve, my diamond cross for and during his natural life with remainder in fee at his death to Daisy Lamkin Item Ninth: I give, devise and bequeath to Daisy Lamkin in fee simple my diamond cross ring. Item Tenth: I give, devise, and bequeath to my beloved husband, Francis Edgeworth Eve, my diamond shirt buttons for and during his natural life and at his death reminder in fee to Edgeworth Eve Lamkin. Item Eleventh: I give, devise and bequeath unto Edgeworth Eve Lamkin my watch and chain in fee simple. Item twelfth: I give and devise and bequeath unto my beloved husband, Francis Edgeworth Eve, all the rest and residue of my estate of which I may die seized and posssessed, whether real, personal, or choses in action, legal or equitable of any kind whatsoever, to have and to hold all of said property for and during his natural life with remainder at his death unto the children of my nephews, Julian B Lamkin, Robert Willie Lamkin and James A Lamkin born or to be born in equal shares, each of said children to take an equal share with each other child, said children taking per capita and not per stirpes for and during the natural life of each child with remainder at the stirpes, for and during the natural life of each child with remainder at the death of each child to his or her issue, the children of said issues taking in the place of a deceased parent, and taking per stirpes and not per capita. In the event of the death of any child or children, or descendants of child or children of any of my said nephews before the death of my said husband without living issue, or within the period permitted by the laws of Georgia as to perpetuities, without issue living, the interest of such deceased child or children or their issue shall be equally divided among the children of my said nephews, share and share alike, children standing in the place of deceased parents. I distinctly and unequivocally authorize and empower my beloved husband, Francis Edgeworth Eve, in whom I have the most abounding and unlimited confidence to sell, exchange, mortgage, create a lien on, or otherwise dispose of, publicly or privately, on such terms and conditions as to him seems best without the order of any court whatsoever, all and every of the property of which I may die seized and possessed and which is disposed of by this will by special legacy or otherwise with the exception of the property disposed of in items Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, Ninth and Eleventh of this will. While much of the property herein bequeathed and devised is to my said husband for his natural life with remainder over, it is my postive will and desire (and any devise or bequest herein in remainder is to that extent limited) that my siad husband shall have full and ample power, and I hereby invest him with the same, to fully perform and execute the above powers, conveying to the purchaser, mortgagee or other person obtaining any interest in any of the property herein devised and bequeathed as full right, title or interest as could an owner in fee simple convey or to account for the proceeds of any sale, mortgage or any other person receiving any interest under said powers be required to look after the proceeds or the application of them. Item Thirteenth: I hereby give, devise and bequeath to my beloved husband Francis Edgeworth Eve, seventy on shares of the Capital stock of the Augusta Gas Light Company for and during his natural life with the remainder at his death to Julian B Lamkin and in his successors in trust nevertheless of the use, benefit, behoof, support and maintenance of Hugh Lamkin, son of said Julian B during the natural life of said Hugh and at the deth of said Hugh remainder to the same persons upon the same terms, limitations and conditions, as set forth in Item Twelfth of this Will. I wish it distinctly understood that the stock hereby conveyed and bequeathed is subject to all understood that the stock hereby conveyed and bequeathed is subject to all the powers and privileges granted my said husband in said item twelth of this will. I hereby nominate, consitute and appoint Rev. Robert Toombs DuBoss now of Harlam, Georgia, James A Lamkin, of Columbia county, Georgia and William H Barrett Jr., of Augusta, Georgia, executors of this my last will and testament. Item First: I give, devise and bequeath unto my husband, Francis Edgeworth Eve, a certain tract of land in Columbia county , said State, containing one hundred and eighty on (181) acres more or less and bounded by lands of estate of G. B. Lamkin, James Kelly, testatrix and others for and during his natural life, with remainder at his death to Turner Lamkin, and at the death of said Turner to his issue or their descendants then living, share and share alike, per stripes and not per capita. In the event of said Turner dying wihtout issue or their descendants living, said land is to go at the death of said Turner to the children of James A Lamkin share and share alike, deceased parents being represented by their children. This devise is made subject to all the powers, authority, and privileges granted my said husband in Item Twelfth of my will this day published. The word pin being erased and ring substituted in item 3rd of the will as there is no pin undisposed of. Also the land spoken of is land tendered by the father of G. B. Lamkin of Turner Lamkin in codicil in payment of debt due her and F. E. Eve for interest in Griff's store. Andrew L McLean Geo E. Hamilton E.S. Harrison, Jr ******************************************************************* I, Mary E Eve, of the county of Columbia, being of sound disposing mind and memory, but mindful of the uncertainy of life do hereby make, declare and publish this as Codicil No 2 to my last will and testament executed and dated January 3rd 1894 Item First: Having devised to Ida Chamblin Seven hundred acres of land more or less, in Columbia by said last will and testament upon certain conditions and limitations therein set forth, I hereby revoke said devise as to the amount of land and give, devise and bequeath unto said Ida Chamblin, in lieu of said seven hundred acres, four hundred and eighty two in Columbia county, Georgia, being a portion of said seven hundred acres described as follows: Commencing at Payne House at intersection of Petersburg and Scott's Ferry Road, and running in a general south and southeasterly direction along old fence row to land of estate of Michael Reid and along said land of estate of Michael Reid to Petersburg road and along said road to point of commencement, containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less. Also sufficient land to make out Four hundred and eighty two acres out of the tract of land across the Petersburg Road from said tract commencing at point where land of Gabe Moore, Minor Luke, William Moore and others to corner of plat made by Hatcher of one hundred acres for Dr. E. P. Culver, thence along said land of Culver to Petersburg Road, and thence along said Petersburg Road to point of commencement. To have and to hold said land upon the same terms, limitations and conditions as set forth in said will. It is my sole purpose and intent in this codicil to change the amount of land devised to Ida Chamblin and I make no other changes whatever. My reason for making this change is that I believe such devise of seven hundred acres would give Ida Chamblin more than my nieces and nephews and I wish her to have an amount equal to what each of them receives from my estate by said will.
