Georgia Richmond County In the name of God, Amen I, Elizabeth F. Lamkin of the County of Columbia and State of Georgia, being of sound and disposing mind, memory, and discretion, do make, publish, and declare this instrument in writing to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made. Item 1st. It is my will and desire, and I hereby direct my Executors hereinafter named, as soon as practical after my decease, to pay any and all just debts I may leave unpaid at the time of my death. Item 2nd. To my daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eve, formerly Mary Elizabeth Lamkin, wife of Captain Francis Edgeworth Eve of Augusta Georgia, I give, devise, and bequeath the following plantations, tracts, and parcels of land, situated, lying and being in the County of Columbia and State of Georgia, and known and containing as follows, that is to say, The Home or Jones Tract upon which I now reside containing nine hundred acres of land, be the same more or less. The Payne Tract, containing seven hundred and seventy four acres of land, be the same more or less. The Clover Bottom and Blount Tract, containing one hundred and twenty acres of land, be the same more or less. The Garnett Tract, containing one hundred and fourty one acres of land, be the same more or less. The Roberts Tract, containing five hundred and sixty seven acres of land, be the same more or less. The Reid Tract, containing seven hundred acres of land, be the same more or less, and The Toole Tract containing five hundred acres of land, be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the houses, outhouses, improvements and appurtenances to the same, and each of the same, belonging or in anywise appertaining. And also all and singular the mules, horses, cattle, stock, wagons, agricultural implements, vehicles, crops, whether harvested or growing, which I own upon said plantations or tracts of land and each and each and all of them. Also all claims and demands whether in the form of notes, open accounts, or liens, which I have and own against the laborers, renters, and hired hands upon said plantations and tracts of land, and each and all of them. Also all my household and kitchen furniture, bedding, books, pictures, silver, plates, china, crockery, cutlery, and all personal property of every sort and kind belonging to me and now being in my residence on the Home or Jones Place aforesaid, and upon and appertaining to the same and to the other plantations and tracts of land above mentioned, and each and all of them. Item 3rd. To my said daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eve, I further give, devise and bequeath thirty shares of the capital stock of the Augusta Factory, thirty one shares of the capital stock of the Augusta Gas Light Company, eight shares of the capital stock of the Rome Railroad Company, one bond of the Montgomery and West Point Railroad Company of the par value of one thousand dollars, and five bonds of the City of Macon, Georgia, three of them being of the par value of one thousand dollars each, and the other two being of par value of five hundred dollars each. To have and to hold the plantations and tracts of land aforesaid, and each and all of them, and all the personal property, bonds, stocks, claims, and appurtenances above described and mentioned, unto my said daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eve, her heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns in fee simple forever. Item 4th. To my grandson, Julian B. Lamkin, of Columbia County, Georgia, I give, devise, and bequeath the following plantations, tracts, or parcels of land, all situated lying and being in the said County of Columbia and State of Georgia, and known and containing as follows, that is to say, The Hardwick Tract, containing nine hundred acres of land, be the same more or less. The School House Tract, containing eight acres of land, be the same more or less, and The McLane Tract containing forty acres of land, be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the appurtenances and improvements to the said tracts or plantations belonging or in anywise appertaining. I further give, devise and bequeath unto my said grandson, Julian B. Lamkin, five bonds of the Charlotte, Columbia, and Augusta Railroad Company, of the par value of one thousand dollars each, and four bonds of the City of Augusta, Georgia, of the par value of one thousand dollars each. To have and to hold, the said plantations and tracts of land and all the improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging and the bonds above enumerated as in and by this item of my will bequeathed, unto him the said Julian B. Lamkin his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns in fee simple forever. Item 5. To my grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, of the County of Columbia, State of Georgia, I give, devise and bequeath the following plantations, tracts or parcels of land situated, lying and being in the County of Columbia and State of Georgia, and known and containing as follows, The Luke Plantation or Tract of land containing eight hundred acres of land, be the same more or less. The Hassell or Ashley Plantation, or tract of land lying adjacent to the Luke Plantation, and containing one hundred and fifty acres of land, be the same more or less, and the Oakman Place, or tract of land, lying adjacent to the said Luke Plantation and containing nine hundred and thirteen acres of land be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the houses, outhouses, improvements and appurtenances to the said plantations and tracts of land and each of them belonging, or in anywise appertaining. I further give, devise and bequeath unto my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, any and all mules, horses, cattle, agricultural tools and implements, personal property, and crops, whether growing or havested, and all claims which I hold, whether in the form of notes, open accounts, or liens, against any and all laborers, tenants and renters thereon, which I may have and own upon, and for account of the said Luke Plantation, Hassell or Ashley Plantation, and the Oakman Place bequeathed in and by this item of my will. I further give, devise, and bequeath unto my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, any and all mules, cattle, agricultural tools, implements, and personal property which I may own situated, being, and employed about and upon the Bell Plantation in Columbia County Georgia. I further give, devise, and bequeath unto my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, four seven per cent bonds of the State of Georgia of the par value of one thousand dollars each, and five seven per cent bonds of the City of Augusta, Georgia of the par value of one thousand dollars each, three of said City of Augusta bonds being what are known as casual bonds. To have and to hold the lands and appurtenances, the bonds, and all and singular the personal property and claims to him devised and bequeathed in and by this item of my will, unto my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, his heirs, executors, administractors, and assigns in fee simple forever. Should however, my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, depart this life in possession of any or all of the property to him bequeathed in and by this item of my will, having made no deed or will and testement conveying the same, and leaving no widow or child or children, or descendant or descendants of child or children him surviving, then and in such case it is my further will and I hereby direct that the property real and personal, herein and by this item of my will bequeathed, and so remaining undisposed of by will or deed of my said grandson, Robert Willis Lamkin, shall, from and after and immediately upon his death, go to, become the property of, and be equally divided between my said daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eve, and my said grandson Julian B. Lamkin, share and share alike. Item 6th. All the rest and residue of my estate, real, personal and mixed, of every sort and kind soever, and wheresoever located, I give, devise and bequeath unto my said daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eve, her heirs, executors, admininstrators and assigns in fee simple forever. Item 7th. I hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint my son-in-law, Francis Edgeworth Eve, of the City of Augusta and State of Georgia and my grandsons, Julian B. Lamkin and Robert Willis Lamkin, the executors of this my last will and testement. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one. E.F. Lamkin the within named, sign, seal, publish, and declare the same to be her last will and testement, that she was of sound and disposing mind and memory, and that these deponents signed the same as witnesses, at the request and in the presence of the testatrix and of each other.
