Maclin Sills Estate Settlement 07 Nov 1853 Columbia County, GA State of Georgia, } Columbia County. } By the court of Ordinary for the county aforesaid: To David P Stanford, Edward B Bacon, Benjamin Watson, William S. Watson & Joseph H. Stockton These are to authorize you, or any three or more of you, to repair to all such parts and places as you shall be directed unto by Joel L Sills of all and singular, the Goods and Chattels, Rights and Credits of Maclin Sills deceased, wheresoever any of the Goods or Chattels of the said deceased are, or do remain, within the said parts or places and which shall be shewn unto you by the said Joel L Sills and there view and appraise, all and every the said Goods and Chattels, being first sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, to make a true and perfect inventory and appraisement thereof, and to cause the same to be returned under your hands, or any three or more of you, to the said Joel L Sills within three months from the date hereof. In Testimony Whereof, I hereunto affix my hand and seal this 7th day of November 1853 S. Crawford, Ord. You David P Stanford, Edmund B Bacon, Benjamin Watson and William S Watson do swear that you will make a just and true appraisement of all and singular, the Goods and Chattels (ready money excepted,) of Maclin Sills deceased, as shall be produced to you by Joel L Sills, Admn. Sealed with our seal and dated at Appling the 7th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three. The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That if the above bound Joel L Sills administrator of the goods, chattels and credits of Maclin Sills deceased, do make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of the said Joel L Sills or in the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him and the same so made do exhibit in the Court of Ordinary of said county when he shall be thereunto required, and such goods, chattels and credits, do well and truly administer according to law, and make a just and true account of his actings and doings therein when required by the Superior Court or the Ordinary for the said county, and all the rest of the goods, chattels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said administration, the same being first allowed by the said Court, shall deliver and pay to such persons respectively as are entitled to the same by law. And if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the said deceased, and the same be proved before the Court, and the executors obtain a certificate of the probate thereof, and the said Joel L Sills do in such case, if required, render and deliver up the said letters of administration, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force.
