Harper Johnson Clhjohnson@aol.com ======================================================================= William Zachry’s Will Registered March 11th 1814 In the Name God Amer, I William Zachry of the State of Georgia and County of Columbia being at this time somewhat indisposed but of sound mind and disposing memory thanks to Almighty God do make and ordain the following to be my last will and testament. Viz 1st After paying all my just debts I lend my wife Nancy Zachry during her Natural life my lands whereon I now live. Also about fifty acres of land over the Uehee Creek near the Grove Meeting, house, all my household and kitchen furniture, my stock of every description including the provision articles on hand, plantation tools do do, five negroes, George, Philes, Hannah, Bob, Bridget & Jane except such as may be hereunder otherwise disposed of. Also ten shares in the Augusta Bank, the above property it is to be understood to be under the control of my Executors, but more particularly my dear Wife who is intrusted with the further charge of raising, educating my four youngest children untill they may arrive of age or marriage. 2nd being pofsefsed of several tracts of land in different places and four negroes, China, Lewis, Jim and Polly, a quantity of cotton and some ready money, my desire of my Executors herein named sale the lands and cotton and add the sales thereof together with the ready money in twelve months after my decease, divide the same share and share alike between my wife Nancy and children, Martha Ann, John L., Susannah, Nancy, Franky, William, A.G.S.L, Sally and Artimipa or their legal representatives. 3rd I give to my Daughter, Martha Albriton one negroe girl and her increase named Charlotte in addition to what has been given her. 4th I give to my daughter Ana Clyst one girl named Lucy and her increase in addition to what she has received 1 negro already delivered. 5th I give to my daughter Nancy Yarbrough one negro girl ____ and her increase in addition to what she has received said negro already delivered. 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Franky Lazenby one negro girl named Micah and her increase in addition to what she has received said negro already delivered. 7th In the first item of this will I have lent to my wife during life my plantation and lands whereon I now live also fifty acres near the grove meeting house in two separate parcels my will is said lands be equally divided between my two youngest sons William and Archimedes G.S.L. Zachry, also that each of them have a horse and saddle worth eighty dollars, one feather bed and furniture, and one cow and calf each. 8th I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally one negro girl named Sarah & her increase. Also one feather bed and furniture and one cow and calf and one horse worth sixty dollars. 9th I give and bequeath to my daughter Artimipa one negro girl named Anna and her increase, one horse and saddle worth eighty dollars, one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf. Now if either of the last named children, Sally and Artimipa may loose the negroes bequeathed by death my desire is they receive the value thereof out of my estate. 10th My desire is at the death of my wife, after the arrival at age of my youngest children is that the remainder of my estate not herein appropriated be sold at the discretion of my Executors here below named and when the proceeds of such sales are calluted to be divided share and share alike amongst my children herein named or their legal representatives and should any one or more of said children die in ____ my wish is the legacy herein left to such deceased child or children revert to my estate and be equally divided among the survivor. 11th I do hereby constitute and appoint my dearly beloved wife Nancy Zachry Executrix, my son in law Jefse Albriton and James Yarbrough and my son William Zachry Executors to this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made. Crawford Georgia} Columbia County} Littleton Yarbrough & James Blackstone two of the subscribing witnefses to the within instrument of writing after being duly sworn on the Gospels of Almighty God saith they saw William Zachry in life subscribe and acknowledge the same as his last will and testament and that the testator was of sound and disposing memory and requested them with Anderson Crawford and Mary Golightly to subscribe thereto as witnefses which was performed in presence of each other.
