W. Clements Dr. H. W. Clements born June 23, 1877, grew up near Ray City. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1900. Dr. Clements practiced in Hahira, Lenox, and Ray City until the early 1920's. Transportation for these years was by horse and buggy and his stable full of horses is well known. Prior to World War I, the second gas vehicle in Berrien County was a Maxwell proudly owned by Dr. Clements. Dr. Clements and his wife, the former Miss Pauline Nelson moved their families to Adel in 1922. Their children were Henry, Harvey, Juanita, Fred, and Hilda. For thirty years Dr. Clements served Cook County and was one of the beloved doctors of the time. Many citizens recall the tears of joy Dr. Clements shed with the family at the birth of a baby and his tears when grief came. His deep loyalties and the strong Christian character were his hall mark to his patients and his friend. Dr. Clements died in 1952 at 75 years of age.
