B. Oliphant Dr. J. B. Oliphant was born at Matthews in Jefferson County, Georgia. In his early years his family moved to Wrens where he attended high school. He received his premed training at the University of Georgia, Athen. In June of 1924, he graduated from the University of Georgia Medical School at Augusta. His first medical practice was in Mitchell, Georgia, in July of 1924. On November 26, 1924, Dr. Oliphant married the former Alice Samples of Wrens. They had two daughters, Mrs. James R. Williams of Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and Mrs. John Theis of Lexington, Kentucky. In 1934, Dr. Oliphant and his family moved to Adel where he practiced medicine until 1962. Licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Dr. Oliphant moved his family to Crystal River in 1962. He practiced medicine there until 1970. Dr. Oliphant was a member of the Baptist Church. Interested in all phases of civic affairs, he was a member of the Lions, Elks, American Legion, Woodman of the World, Masons, Eastern Star and 7 Rivers Country Club of Crystal River. He also held membership in the Georgia and Florida Medical Associations and the Paso-Citrus - Hernando - Medical Society. At the time of his death in December, 1970, he was on the staff of Citrus Memorial Hospital.
