W. Schnauss Dr. F. W. Schnauss was born in Grass Valley, Californic. His mother died in his infancy. At the death of his father, Dr. W. S. Schnauss in Freeport, Illinois in 1873, he was sent to Germany to be educated. He ran away at the age of 16 and came to Enigma. There he met and married Frances Maloney. From this union there were five children. Dr. Schnauss was graduated from the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1906. This is now Emory University Medical College. After graduation he worked for the State Board of Health for a year before establishing his office in Cecil. He often assisted Dr. Woodard in his operations by giving the anaesthetic. After a number of years in Cecil, he establised his office in Barretts, Ga. Three years later he moved to Valdosta where he practiced until his retirement in 1934. Dr. Schnauss died in 1937. His two sons, William and F. H. followed their father in the medical profession.
