Born September 29, 1920, in Nashville to the late Frank and Sarah Wilson Hamilton, she lived in Berrien County most of her life. She has resided in Phenix City for the past 21 years and was a homemaker and member of Faith Temple Assembly of God in Phenix City. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jackie Connell of Columbus and Donald and Janet Connell of Tifton; five grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; sister, Myrtle Hamilton Bennett of West Berrien. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard “J.L’ Connell; son, William Luther Connell; daughter, Judith Elaine Connell; brother, Austin Hamilton; three sisters, Betty Hamilton Baker Hendley, Corine Hamilton Pearson, and Lorine Hamilton Pearson. Funeral services were held May 26 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Pastor Emory Evans officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace, “When the Roll is Call up Yonder” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Pallbearers were Ray Pearson, Wayne Warren, Ronald “Buddy” Pearson, Steve Wells, Sr., Steve Wells, Jr., Allen Horton, John Kight. Interment followed at Easters Cemetery. Boone Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
