 Gary Hancock, 76, of Adel died October 19, 2005 at his residence.

 Born January 1, 1929 in Adel to the late Julian and Leila Hayes Hancock, he 
had owned Alpha Service Center and was a farmer. He started the first Georgia 
Catfish Farm in 1967 and was named State of Georgia FFA Farm Family of the Year 
in 1972. He was a member of Adel Masonic Lodge #310 and was a Shriner. He was a 
member of Springhead Baptist Church. He served for 11 years with the U.S. Army 
as a Sergeant First Class, serving two years during the Korean and Cold War in 
Frankfurt, Germany.

 Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hancock of Adel; two daughters, Cynthia 
Harrison of Tifton and Crystal Tillman of Adel; son, Gary Michael "Mickey" 
Hancock of Valdosta; brother, Billy Hancock of Adel; sister, Beatrice Lynch of 
Bradford, FL; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

 Funeral services were held October 23 at 2 p.m. at Springhead Baptist Church 
with the Revs. Robert Lawrence and Ed Godwin officiating. Wayne and Mary Nell 
Boyette sang "Blessed Assurance" and "Love Lifted Me."

 Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military and Masonic rites.

 Active pallbearers were Phillip Taylor, Tom Daughtrey, Mike Williams, Jimmy 
Hancock, Michael Folsom, Ray Bozeman.

 Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Taylor, Gene Griffin, John L. Williams, 
Jackson Connell, John Henry Folsom, LeRoy Howell.

 Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
