Born April 18, 1923, in Atkinson County to the late Owen Frank Vining and the late Pearl Woodard Vining, she lived in Ft. Pierce, Fla., and most of her life in Cook County. She was of the Christian faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Leavens; two sisters, Margaret Howard and Mary Harper; and four brothers, Walt, Earl, Woodard, and Leon Vining. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bessie Leavens of Ivey, Dewayne and Sheila Leavens of Nashville, and Wally and Robin Leavens of Adel; a daughter, Sue Crumbley of Adel; a brother, Sonny Vining of Adel; two sisters, Sue Nell Vining of Adel and Mae Sanders of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; grandchildren, Jackie Jordan of Nashville, Loresia Hodges of Ivey, Victor Strawder of Lake Park, Michael Strawder of Gordon, Glenna Patterson of Nashville, Timmy Crumbley of Adel, Gondra Crumbley of Adel, Spencer Crumbley of Valley Head, W.Va., and Rebecca Taylor of Adel; and numerous great- grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in the chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Highway 41 South with the Rev. Kenneth Matthews and Rev. Gary James officiating. The New Tradition sang "Amazing Grace" and "I Want Us To Be Together in Heaven." A special recording of Maysie Leavens singing "Home Never Looked So Good to Me" was played. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Active pallbearers were Gondra Crumbley, Roscoe Patterson, Timmy Crumbley, Samuel Patterson, Justin Crumbley, William Crumbley. Honorary pallbearers were Victor Strawder, Jonathan Crumbley, David Hodges, Jr., Michael Strawder, Spencer Crumbley, Joseph Jordan, Jeffery Crumbley.
