He was born on August 30, 1936 in Little Rock, AR, to the late Cecil Elmo Moore and Mabel Marie Koonce Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Adel and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service where he served in the Vietnam and Korean Conflicts as an electronic warfare specialist. After retirement from the military he worked in Civil Service for several years as a Quality Assurance Representative. Mr. Moore was a cancer survivor and a loving Daddy and Grandpa; he enjoyed fishing, restoring military vehicles and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Mary E. Moore of Adel; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan Moore of Adel, Raymond Moore of Jackson, TN, and David and Miranda Moore of Enigma; six daughters, Christina Holland of Nashville, Cynthia Holt of Covington, TN, Melanie Sanders of Hahira, GA, Rebecca Moore of Bartlett, Tn. Evelyn Moore of Adel and Colleen Purvis of Nashville; he is also survived by 17 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by an infant son. A rosary service will be held Tuesday, March 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Adel. The Moore Family will receive friends at Mr. Moore’s home Wednesday evening March 6 from 6 until 8 p.m. for a Celebration of Life (you are welcome to pay your respects anytime after 3 p.m. on this day.) A memorial service and funeral mass will be held Thursday March 7 at 9 a.m. in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home in Adel, with Father Fredy Angel and Father Marvin LeFrois officiating. Special selections to be played at the service will be “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “Daddy’s Hands,” A committal service will follow later on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Christopher Moore, Jeremy Haywood, Eric Holt, Shane Holt, Jim Butler and Louis Chester will serve as honorary pallbearers. Boone Funeral Home of Adel is in charge of arrangements.
