Reed, 86, of Adel died May 10, 2004 at Metter Nursing Home. Born August 3, 1917 in Hall County to the late James Daniel and Clara Mae Loggins Reed, he was a retired minister and farmer. He was a member of Springhead Baptist Church and was a Mason. He was married to the late Gladys Joiner Reed. Survivors include two sons, John Reed, Sr., of Adel and Bill Reed of Claxton; four daughters, Mary Ruth Mixon of Macclenny, FL, Ann Sorenson of Adel, Barbara Hughes of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Blankenship of Moultrie; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 14 at 11 a.m. at Springhead Baptist Church with the Revs. Lennon Howell and Robert Lawrence officiating. Lisa Folsom served as pianist. Musical selections included "Precious Memories," "Hold to God's Unchanging Hand," and "I Fell On My Knees and Cried Holy," Interment was in Brushy Creek Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Greg Mixon, Chris Reed, Christopher Hughes, John Reed, Jr., Colby Reed, Josh Weeks, Glenn Reed, Jason Blankenship, Ian Korningsdorfer. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Hamner, Render Folsom, Larry Corbitt, Phil Hamner, David Shirah, Everett James, Leroy Howell, Grady Bryan, Wayne Boyette. Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
