Williams, 72, of Adel passed away at South Georgia Medical Center Saturday March 21, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 25, 1937 in Dooly County, GA and was a lifetime resident of Cook Co. She was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church, Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the Christian Joys Circle. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Adel and participated in many other activities in her community. She loved fishing, traveling and cooking for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and was very active in her children's lives in all that they were involved in growing up. She was active in all aspects of the family business, Williams Investment Co. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Felton McCrary and Carrie Mae Dowis McCrary. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy & Guy McCrary and one sister, Jewel Templeton and one sister-in-law Vesta Mathis Thurmond. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John L. Williams, one daughter & son-in-law, Debi and Paul "Mac" McNeal of Valdosta, three sons and daughters- in-law, Rick & Emily Williams of Valdosta, Mike and Deane Williams of Valdosta, Steve & Lynn Williams of Adel, eight grandchildren, Andrew & Josh McNeal, John & Matt Williams, Jamie & Thomas Williams, Kaysie & Candace Williams, her mother-in-law, Pearlie Williams of Adel, one brother & sister-in- law, Virgil & Jackie McCrary of Valdosta, one sister and brother-in-law, Glenda & Elbert Futch of Lake Park, GA, sister-in-law, Lois S. McCrary of Sparks and several nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral services were held March 24 at 11 a.m. at Adel United Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Jimmy Sharp, Rev. Craig Hutto & Rev. V.L. Daughtrey officiating. Beth Penn played the organ; The Chancel Choir sang "Bound For The Promised Land," "Amazing Grace" and "It is Well With My Soul;" the congregation sang "In The Garden" and Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang "You Ain't Seen The Last of Me" and "I Call It Home." Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. Active pallbearers were Donald McCrary, Randy Templeton, Steve Register, Glenn "June" Postell, Keith Stith and Eric Croft. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Pilot Club of Adel. Donations may be made to the Adel United Methodist Church in her memory.
