STANDING RESOLUTION. Resolved, That when a minister or other member of this body shall be present at the meeting of any Association in correspondence with ours, by presenting a copy of our last minutes, containing his name, he is to be recognized as our Messenger to such Association. And, that our delegates to the Georgia Baptist State Convention may fill any vacancy that may occur in their delegation with any member of this body in attendance at said Convention. WESTERN ASSOCIATION. 15 11th. No person shall speak more than three times to the same sub- ject, without leave of the body. 12th. No member of the Association shall indulge in laughing dur- ing the sitting of the body, nor in whispering in time of a public speech, nor cast reflections on the speaker; wile speaking, the speaker shall strictly adhere to the subject, and in no wise reflect on the person who spoke before him, so as to make remark on his imperfections, but shall fairly state the case, so as to convey his ideas distinctly. 13. No person shall abruptly absent himself from the Association without leave from it. 14th. The names of the members shall be enrolled by the Clerk, and called over as often as the Association may require. 15th. The Moderator shall be entitled to all the privileges of other members, provided the chair be first filled, but he shall have no vote except the Association be equally divided. 16th. It shall be the duty of the Clerk to keep a regular record of the Association. 17th. The Minutes of the Association shall be read and signed by the Moderator and Clerk before the Association rises. 18th. Amendments to this form of Government, may be made at any time by a majority of this body when they may deem it necessary. 19th. The object of this Association shall be to provide for : 1st. The genera; union of the churches. 2d. To preserve inviolate a chain of communion among the churches. 3d. To give the churches all necessary advice in matters of difficulty. 4th. To inquire into the cause why any church fails to represent it- self at any time in the Association. 5th. To correspond with other Associations. 6th. The association shall have power to withdraw from any church in this union, which shall violate the rules of this body, or deviate from the orthodox principles of religion. 7th. Invite any of the visiting brethren in the ministry as assistants, who may be present at the time of its sitting, whom it shall judge ne- cessary. 8th. The Association shall have power to adjourn itself to any future time or place it may think most convenient to the Churches of the As- sociation. 9th. Any member who shall willingly and knowingly break any of these rules, shall be reproved by the Moderator as he shall think pro- per. The Association shall be opened and closed by prayer.
