This indenture made the twenty fourth day of December in the year of our 
Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between Ellison Gross 
of Jasper County & State aforesaid of the one part & Michael Durr of 
Coweta County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the 
said Ellison Gross for and in inconsideration of the Sum of two hundred 
dollars to him in hand paid at & before the sealing & delivering of these 
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, 
bargained, sold & conveyed and do by these presents grant, bargain, sell 
& convey unto the said Michael Durr, his heirs & assigns all that tract or 
parcel of land Situate lying and being in the Second district of Coweta 
containing two hundred two & a half acres more or less known by lot one 
hundred & eighteen to have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto 
him the said Michael Durr his heirs & assigns together with all & singular 
the rights members and appurtainances thereof to the same in any 
manner belonging to his and there own proper use benefit and behoof 
forever in fee simple and the said Ellison Gross for himself his heirs 
executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said 
Michael Durr his heirs assigns will warrant and forever defend the rights 
and title thereof against themselves and against the claims of all other 
persons Whatever, in witness whereof the said Ellison Gross hath 
hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.

Personally came before me Jobe C. Patterson who being duly sworn 
saith that he saw Ellison Gross sign seal and deliver the within deed for 
the purpose therein mentioned & that he deponent Subscribed the same 
as a witness and saw William Gross do likewise. Sworn to & Subscribed 
before me this 6th day of January 1828.

Copied from original Deed Book A, Offices of the Superior Court,
Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia
Page 184

Error in original. The clerk made an error in the date of the witnesses' 
statement above. It should be Jan. 6, 1829. The deed was signed 24 Dec. 
1828 and witnesses could not have been deposed in January of 1828. 
The deposition clearly says "January 1828" but it had to be January of 
1829.
