This Indenture, Made the 31 day of August, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety seven, between Carey Hughen of the County of Coweta, of the one part, and Martha J. Hendrix of the County of Coweta, of the other part, Witnesseth: That the said Carey Hughen for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred dollars ($1500.00) to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed, and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell alien, convey, and confirm unto the said Martha J. Hendrix, her heirs and assigns All of lot of land number ninety six (96) containing two hundred and two & one half acres more or less, and the north west quarter of lot of land number ninety seven (97) Containing fifty acres more or less, all lying in the original second (2) district of said County, and bounded on the north by the Robinson land, on the east by the old Wes Carmical land, on the south by Robt. Carmical & Ed Dominick on the west by R F Hunter and Dr J T Jones This conveyance is made by the said Carey Hughen in person being of proper mind, by and with the advice & consent of his general agents, John L Bean & Giles Pitts, who are clearly of the opinion that the price paid is a good, fair price, and knowing that the land is obliged to be sold to pay the debts of the said Carey Hughen and the said John L Bean and Giles Pitts sign this conveyance to ____bly their approval of the conveyance, but not in any way binding them personally by any of the terms thereof, or in any way making them liabil for anything but only to testify to their opinion as to the good faith and fairness of the transaction To have and to hold the said bargained premises with all and singular the rights, members, and appurtenances thereto appertaining, to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of him the said Martha J Hendrix, her heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, in fee- simple. And the said Carey Hughen the said bargained premised unto the said Martha J. Hendrix, her heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, against the said Carey Hughen his heirs, executors, and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons, shall and will warrant and forever defend, by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof, the said Carey Hughen as grantor and the said John L Bean and Giles Pitts as advisors have hereunto set their hand affixed their seal, and delivered these presents the day and year first above written.
