Plaqumine, La. April 3/98 Dear Mother, I will drop you a few lines I am not well. Some better than I was when I wrote last do you get my letters why don’t you answer them. I am so I can sit up some I hope these will find you well. I heard from Newton last week. He was well he weigh sixty five pounds I am going to see him soon. Ma I am so weak I can’t walk across the house but hope I will soon be so I can walk around soon. Are you all having any war excitement there? War is all the talk here. I think they will declare war next week. I hope they will. I think it tis time the United States was doing something to defend its own. Ma where is Jenas post office at. I will close hope to hear from you soon.
