Written on July 24, 1884 from Newnan, Georgia by Gussie (?) H. to Eugenia Bridges..... Newnan, Georgia July 24, ‘84 Dear Friend Gena, I have thought several times before this that I would write to you but have been frolicing so much for the last month that I hav’nt done any thing but frolic but will see if I can sit long enough to write you a few lines. I have been in Atlanta for the last three weeks come home last Sunday. And now you bet I had a boss time. I cut me off some back bangs and done my hair up on top of my head. Come home and Mama told me that she thought I had more sense than that . There is to be a ball in town tonight at College Temple. I thought you were coming out here the first of this month and stay five or six weeks. I want you to come and stay part of your time with me. I was afraid you would come while I was from home and I would’nt get to see you. I am going out to see Jessie this eve. I know I will have a nice time and get some nice fruit. I wish you could be with us. I must close for this time give my love to Rosa and except a portion for yourself. Write real soon to Your true friend, Gussie (?)
