D, 19 Georgia Infantry, 2nd Lieutenant Letter Enclosed Within File State of Georgia; Coweta County; On this fourth day of 1863 personally appeared before me, the subscriber, a justice of the peace in & of the county aforesaid, Richmond B. Bridges, after being duly sworn according to law, deposes and says, that he is the Father of Wiley Jones Bridges deceased, who was a 1st Lieutenant of Captain James W. Hunters Company, 19th REgiment of Georgia Volunteers, commanded by Colonel W.W. Boyc, in the service of the Confederate States in the present war with the United States; that the said W.J. Bridges entered the service at Senoia in Coweta County and State of Georgia, on or about the first day of June 1861 and died at Senoia on or about the 10th day of February 1863 (of wounds recieved in the left knee from a Ball at the Battle of Fredericksburg in december 1862) leaving neither wife or child and there is no administration on his estate neither will there be any-- That R.B. Bridges makes this deposition for the purpose of obtaining from the Government of the Confederate States whatever may have been due the said Lt. W.J. Bridges at the time of his death for pay, bounty or other allowances for his services, as first Lieutenant as aforesaid. Sworn to and subscribed before me James G. Glarke J.P. signed: R.B. Wells, who is well known to me, and whom I hereby certify to be a person of veracity and credibility, who having been by me duly sworn, says on oath that he is well acquainted with R.B. Bridges, the claimant, and also well knew, for three years, Lieutenant Wiley J. Bridges, the deceased soldier herein mentioned, and that the Statement made under oath by said R.B. Bridges the claimant, as to his relationship to the said deceased soldier, is true and correct in every particular to the best of his knowledge and belief adn that he the said Thomas J. Clarke the Gentleman before whom the foregoing affidavits of R.B. Bridges and Thomas J. Wells appear to have been made and whose genuine signatrue is subscribed thereto, was at the time of making and signing the same, a justice of the peace in and for the County and state aforesaid, duly commissioned and sworn and to all whose official acts as such full faith and credit is and ought to be given, as well in Courts of Justice as thereout.
