Nixon of said State and County, hereby applies for the pension provided by Act of 1910, as amended by Act of 1919, to Confederate Soldiers, and submits his sworn statement, with his testimony to make out the same, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the questions propounded, answers as follows, to-wit: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? (Give County and Post-office): My name is Harrison H. Nixon, residing at Senoia, Ga., Coweta County, R # 1 2. How long and since when have you been a continuous resident citizen of this State? Since 1827 am now 92 years of age, have lived in Georgia all my life. 3. Did you enlist in the Army of the Confederate States or in the organized militia of this State from 1861 to 1865? I enlisted in the Army of the Confederate States. 4. When and where, and in what Company and Regiment did you enlist? (Give the arm and class of Service): I enlisted in Dec. 1862, at Newnan, Ga. in Co. "H" 4th Ga., Reg. Cav. 5. How long did you remain in the actual military service with said Company and Regiment? (Give date of discharge): I remained in actual service until captured in October 1863, on Lookout Mountain, and remained in prison until after the close of the war. 6. When and where was your Company and Regiment surrendered or discharged from the Service? From the best of my knowledge the command was surrendered in N.C. in April 1865. 7. Were you actually present with your command when it was surrendered or discharged? No 8. If you were not actually present, state specifically and clearly where your were. I was in Rock Island Prison, Ills, having been captured as stated in #5. a. Where was your command when you left it? Command was in Tenn, not far from Chattanooga, when I was captured. b. When did you leave the command? At the time of my capture, I was sent to prison. c. For what cause did you leave? Captured d. By whose authority did you leave? (blank) e. For how long was your leave granted? In what way? (blank) f. Why did you not return to your command after leave expired? (blank) g. In what way were you prevented? Was in prison h. What effort did you make to return? None i. Were you captured during the war? Yes, as stated in #5 j. If so, when, and where? In what prison were you held and when were you released? I was in Rock Island Prison, Ills. at the close of the war and was released in June 1865. 9. Are you drawing a pension of any amount from thus State or the United States? No 10. Have you ever applied for the Georgia Pension and had it refused? And for what cause it was not allowed? Have never applied for a pension before. What is your name and where do you reside? My name is T. T. Entrekin, residing in Senoia, Coweta County, Georgia, R # 2. 2. How long and since when have you known Harrison H. Nixon, the applicant? Hace known Harrison H. Nixon all my life, for over 70 years. 3. Where does he now reside, and since when has he been a bona fide, continuing resident of this State, and how do you know? He now resides in Coweta County, near Senoia, R # 1, and he has lived in Georgia since I knew him. 4. When, where, and in what Company and Regiment did H. H. Nixon enlist during war from 1861 to 1865? (Give date and place) He enlisted in Dec. 1862, at Newnan, Ga., in Co. "H" 4th Ga. Reg. Cav. 5. How did you obtain your information of this Service? I was a member of the same company and regiment. 6. How long within your own personal knowledge did he perform actual military service with the Company and Regiment? (Give date) From date of his enlistment until he was captured on Lookout Mountain, Tenn, in either September or October 1863. 7. When and where was his command surrendered or discharged (give date and place) Command was surrendered in N. C. in April 1865. 8. Were you present at the surrender? I was not. 9. If not, where were you and how came you there? I was furloughed in the fall of 1864 to get married and did not get back to my command, but was assigned to provost duty at Palmetto, Ga., where I was at the time of surrender. 10. Was the applicant personally present with his command at surrender? No 11. If not where was he and how came he there? He had been captured and was captured. 12. When did he leave his command? Sept or Oct 1863 Where was his command when he left it? In Tenn. For what cause did he leave? _________________ By whose authority did he leave? _________________________ and how long was he granted leave? _______________________ How do you know all that you have stated to be true? If of your own knowledge, tell clearly and specifically. I was in the same company and regiment and was with him up to the time of his capture. 13. Yes If so, when and where? In Sept. or Oct. 1863 at Davis Gap, on Lookout Mt. Near Chattanooga, Tenn. In what prison was he held? He was sent to Rock Island, Ills. When released?
