Sept 25, Battle flags of Southern regiments captured by the Fourth Minnesota regiment in the Civil War will not be returned to their old regiments, veterans of the Fourth Infantry decided at their annual reunion here a few weeks ago. A year ago, the regiment voted to cut up the flags of the Thirty-fifth and Thirty-ninth Mississippi regiments captured in the battle of Altoona Pass, and distribute the pieces to members of the Fourth regiment. This was done. Last winter, through a misunderstanding, Governor Russell of Mississippi, heard the flags were to be returned and wrote the Fourth veterans thanking them. Some suggested the pieces be collected and the flags returned. This proposal, however, was voted down.
