Burdett Sworn as New Mayor

Newnan's City Officers Begin Term To Last Two Years. 

Newnan, Ga.  January 5 (Special)-Mayor-elect A. R. Burdett, and councilmen-
elect H H North, H C Glover, T M Goodrum and T G Farmer were installed for the 
ensuring two years at the regular meeting of the city council last night.

After the installation the following were elected as heads of the various city 
departments.  Mayor pro tem T M Goodrum; superintendent of water works C M 
Speer; chief of police J D Brewster; patrolmen C S Dincanron, and J P 
Shackleford; city clerk E D Fouse, treasurer G H Carmical; city attorney A H 
Freeman; paid fireman J C Beavers; city sexton P M McLeroy; street overseer B 
C Sanders; engineers at water works J C Mayfield and John Kilgore. 

The annual reports of the different officers showed the city's finances to be 
in excellent shape and there is a large reserve on hand for additional 
improvements during the coming year. 

Mayor Burdett has served the city before in an executive capacity and his 
administration bids fair to be a progessive and prosperous one.
