Reverend Joseph Young Alexander came to Coweta Co. from Oglethorpe Co. in 1831, and apparently took an existing position in the local school. He was a Presbyterian minister, serving as the “stated supply” as pastor of Newnan Presbyterian Church, for a number of years before being called by the church full time. He served into the 1850s. For more on Rev. Alexander see the necrology by fellow preacher-John Wilson, 4 scanned pages under “Biographies”, and 1 scan under-“Church Records”-Newnan Presbyterian Church; both on this site. The E. L. Wittich noted as “secretary” in this ad, may have been Earnest L. Wittich, formerly of Morgan Co. GA.
