UP THERE
Atlanta has a new name given we believe
by the Griffin News.  It is 'up there'.


OLD SL
Old Sl (Sam Small) of the Atlanta Constitution
has been selected to deliver the College 
Commencement address in Griffin next June.


COL. L. P. THOMAS JR.
The Police Commissoners of Atlanta are to elect
a Cheif of police on next Saturday. Our genial 
friend, Col L P Thomas Jr is being urged by his
friends as a suitable man for this responsible
office.  We very much hope that Col. Thomas will
be elected. We speak from our own personal 
observation in saying that no man in Georgia has
a better war record than Col. Thomas. He was a 
good drill officer and a brave fighter.  The many
friends of Colel thomas in Newnan would like
to exert an influence in his behalf.  


The Romish Church is laboring most earnestly 
to get control of the negores of the south.
They have already sent into various Southern States 
a strong body of priests, and we are informed
they now have nearly, if not quite one hundred
young colored men in the Propaganda at Rome, 
preparing for the priesthood.
