It is a ribbon badge which a medallion pendant bearing the likeness of Gen. Robt. E. Lee and is inscribed as follows: Seventh Georgia Regiment Infantry; Anderson's Brigade, Hood's Division, Longstreet's Corps. A.N.V. Brown of Roanoke, Ala., which took place Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Maj. and Mrs. T.F. Jones of Dodson. The officiating minister was Harrison Jones, an uncle of the bride who pronounced them man and wife in a beautiful and impressive manner. ____ LEGAL NOTICES Georgia, Coweta County All persons having demands against the estate of Walter McFarland, late of said county, deceased, are hereby notified to render in their demands to the undersigned according to law and all persons indebted to said estate are required to make immediate payment. A veteran in good standing, having lost his Cross may have it replaced once, only, by applying to the president of the chapter from which he received the cross and he must furnish a copy of the certificate on which the Cross was first bestowed. If a second Cross is lost, a certificate may be given in testimony that such veteran has been awarded a Cross. No descendant or widow of a veteran can have a second Cross. Helen M. (United Daughter's of the Confederacy) ___ COWETA CAMP, No. 1161, United Confederate Veterans, held an enthusiastic meeting at the court house last Tuesday at which officers were elected for the ensuing year and delegates selected to attend the annual reunion to be held in Richmond, Virginia next month. Capt. John B. Goodwyn was reelected commander; Mr. I.J. Stephens, second commander; Col. Geo. H. Carmical, adjutant; Mr. J.T. Holmes, treasurer and Dr. A.C. North, surgeon. Rev. W.A. Parks of Whitesburg and Capt. J.J. Goodrum and Mr. S.W. Woods were chosen to represent the camp at the reunion. ___ MARRIED - - on Sunday afternoon last, at the home of the bride's mother near Turin, Miss Susie Haynes was united in marriage to Mr. John Earl Braswell of Pratt City, Ala. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W.A. Davis of Senoia in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. ___ ORDINARY's COURT The following business was disposed of at the regular term of the Ordinary's Court on Monday last, to wit: Mrs. Martha C. Clower qualified as natural guardian of her minor children, Sallie P., George P., and Mary V. Clower. Mrs. Minnie Thomas qualified as temporary administrator on the estate of Allen Jackson Thomas. Mrs. Georgia Rigsby appointed administrator on the estate of John T. Rigsby. R.H. Clower appointed administrator on the estate of Geo. W. Clower. N.A. North, administrator of Hugh B. North, granted leave to sell lands belonging to deceased. _______ SARGENT News Rev. W.W. Kelley of Whitesburg preached the funeral of Mrs. Wm. Rainey on Sunday. __ Mrs. Jessie Robinson who has been sick with pneumonia, is with her father Mr. Billey Murphey. He also has been quite sick but is some better at this writing. __ WELCOME Community Mr. John B. Cox of Newnan visited Mr. Will Amis last Sunday. __ The singing at Mr. T.A. Hutchens' was very much enjoyed by those present. __ We regret to note the illness of Mr. Claude Beavers. __ LUTHERVILLE News Mr. C.F. McWilliams carried his wife to a sanatarium in Atlanta last Sunday. She has been quite ill for the past three months and her many friends hope the change will prove beneficial. ___ TURIN News Mrs. A.C. Davies spent a few days last week with her parents at Lawrenceville. __ Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Young were the guests of Maggie Gay last Sunday. Mrs. Jessie Howell of Newnan is at Mrs. Maggie Gay's for a month or so. ___ MORELAND News Judge H.W. Camp has been visiting his brother, Mr. W.G. Camp of Newnan who is quite ill. Mrs. Martha McClure of Grantville, his sister, is with him also. __ Mrs. J.C. Sewell is quite sick this week. __ We note with regret the death of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lambert which sad event occurred last Monday. __ Mr. A.P. Robertson, our champion fisherman, is on the sick list this week. __ NEWNAN HOME AFFAIRS Mrs. Lizzie Leigh has returned from a months' visit to friends in Florida. __ Miss Katie Sue Brewster is visiting her sister, Mrs. T.E. Patterson in Griffin. __ Mrs. W.H. Kersey is the guest of her sister, Mrs. J.H. Sanders. Cedartown Standard. __ Mrs. Martha Cole, so long the consort of Mr. R.D. Cole Sr. of Newnan, has been called up higher. Only a few weeks ago we paid of tribute of love to Mathew Cole, a brother of this honored man and now his lonliness is unspeakable, deepened as he stands at 86 years, bereft of her who in the glad morning of life and love put her trusting hand in his and journeyed with him.. ___ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, April 12, 1907 ROSCOE News Mrs. Hulsey and daughter, after spending the winter months with her sister, Mrs. T.J. King, have returned to their home in Carrollton. __ Mrs. Margaret Edwards is still in feeble health. __ Mr. Andrew Martin of Atlanta and Mr. Manuel Martin of Carrollton have been visiting their sisters, Mrs. Frank L. Lyle and Mrs. J.J. Davis and their brother, Mr. W.B. Martin the past few days. __ TURIN News The many friends of Mrs. Judson Harris sympathize with her in the death of her mother, Mrs. Dodds, which occurred Friday in Yatesville at the home of Mrs. Marchmont. The remains were laid to rest at Rocky Mount in the family burying ground. ___ Miss Love Carpenter of Newnan is with her sister, Mrs. Fred Hunter. __ LUTHERVILLE News Miss Mattie Davis is visiting her sister Mrs. J.U. McKoon. __ Messrs. J.O. Albright and N.H Latimer went to Carrolton last week to attend the burial of their brother-in-law, Mr. George Latimer. __ MORELAND News The friends of Mrs. Geo. Wilson sympathize with her in the death of her mother, Mrs. Jas. Dodd. The family attended the funeral at Rocky Mount, Bethel Church, Saturday. __ Mr. and Mrs. John Kilgore of West Newnan visited relatives near Moreland Tuesday. __ Mrs. H.A. Martin is on the sick list this week. __ MADRAS News Mr. Charlie Smith and sister Mrs. W.D. Palmer of Newnan spent Tuesday afternoon with their sister, Mrs. J.C. Herring. __ HARALSON News Mr. J.G. Cagle who has been running a blacksmith shop at this place for the past twenty-five years is quite sick with fever. We hope soon to see him at his old stand again. __ The many friends of Mrs. L.A. Gilbert of Farmdale will be pained to hear of her severe illness. She has fever which is supposed she contracted while waiting upon her brother, Powell Dennis at Birmingham, Ala. He returned home with her and is now fast recovering. ___ NEWNAN HOME AFFAIRS Mr. D.E. Eady of Haralson was in the city yesterday. __ Born, on the 9th inst., to Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Martin, a son. __ Mrs. Frank Stripling is spending the week with relatives in Carrollton. __ Mrs. G.W. Holmes of Rome, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Jack Powell. __ Mrs. E.F. Sims of Atlanta spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Gibson. __ Mr. Earnest Willcoxon of Florida came up Saturday to visit his father, Mr. J.W. Willcoxon. __ Mrs. Sam Bank and daughter will return Monday from a two weeks visit to relatives in Marshallville. __ Capt. C.M. Speer of Carrollton was in the city Saturday enroute home from a visit to McDonough. __ Miss Lizzie Hill came down from Newnan Wednesday to spend some time with her sister, Mrs. R.M. McCaslan. Meriwether Vindicator, 5th inst. __ Mrs. W.S. Carmichael has returned home after an extended trip through Florida. She was accompanied by her little grandson, Spencer Johnson of Montgomery. __ Mrs. I.C. McCrory of College Park, who has been visiting her parents Capt. and Mrs. J.J. Goodrum returned home Tuesday. __ Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Flannery have broken up housekeeping temporarily and Mrs. Flannery and children will spend two or three months with Capt. and Mrs. J.L. Bailey in the sixth district. __ Mrs. M.E. Goodson and Miss Gussie Goodson, mother and sister of the late F.A. Goodson of the fourth district, will move to Franklin, where they will make their home with Mr. W.T. Goodson. __ Mrs. T.A. Lane who suffered a stroke of paralysis some weeks ago, has been growing weaker the past few days and since Monday has been unconscious. Her condition is critical and her death may occur at any time. ___ The sudden death of Mrs. F.E. Croft at West Point on Tuesday night last was a great shock to her Newnan friends. She was the mother of Mr. G.E. Croft of this city and resided here for several years. Three other sons and three daughters survive her. __ Mrs. J.F. Lovejoy and Miss Nona Cotter returned the first of the week from Atlanta where they spent a day or so with their sister, Mrs. Reaves.
