GA NEWSPAPER NOTICES FROM "THE HERALD & ADVERTISER", Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia for MAY 17, 1907 NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, May 17, 1907 DEATH OF MRS. BARBARA BANTA After many months of suffering and weary confinement, relieved only by tender ministrations of friends and the beautiful and unremitting devotion of her son, Mrs. Barbara Banta passed peacefully away Tuesday night and the poor sightless eyes so long closed to the tinseled beauties of the world, were lifted in undimmed delight amid the glories of Paradise. She was 82 years of age. Mrs. Banta was a native of Indiana, moving to Newnan, GA with her husband in 1890. The latter died in April 1897 after which she made her home with her son, Mr. H.S. Banta, with whom she continued to reside until her death. This son, and on older son by a former marriage (now residing in Indiana) are the only near relatives who survive her. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Methodist church. Services were conducted by Dr. J.W. Quillian, who paid a beautiful and touching tribute to the life and character of the deceased. The interment was at Oak Hill. ___ DEATH OF MRS. MARGARET HOGG (from the West Point Herald, 10th. inst.) After a brief illness, which had not been thought especially serious, Mrs. Margaret Hogg died rather suddenly Friday morning, 3rd, inst., at the home of her son, Dr. Robt. N. Hogg. She was in her 74th year having been born in Troup County Nov. 13, 1833. In 1849 she was happily married to W.B. Hogg, an honored son of Troup county, whose death a number of years ago brought profound sadness to a large circle of friends. She was the mother of six children, two daughters who died in infancy, and four sons, A.J. Hogg whose sudden death in 1903 cast such a deep gloom over our city, Dr. J.W. Hogg of Senoia and Drs. J.N. Hogg and R.N. Hogg of this city. Mrs. Hogg was an unpretentious but devout and true christian, a consistent member of the Methodist church for more than fifty years, holding her membership at Bethel church. She possessed a remarkably bright and sun-shiny disposition, by her uniform cheerfulness strengthening, conforting and ministering to the happiness of all with whom she came in contact. Besides three sons she is survived by one brother, N.S. McCally, Troup's capable and esteemed Tax Collector. Her remains wer taken to the family burying ground near Lebanon church and there laid to rest by the side of the loved ones who had preceded her to the home of the redeemed. _____ MORELAND News Mrs. Reagan of South Carolina is visiting her daughter Mrs. E.C.
