How sad to realize that such a good woman has been taken from us. Our home shall be lonely without her and we weep for her; yet it was our heavenly father's will, while through our tears we look beyond and claim grandmother as ours still. She was a member of New Lebanon church. None knew her but to love her; but god loved her best and saw fit to call her to his home in heaven..... Myrtie May. East Newnan, July 24, 1907. _________ A SISTER'S TRIBUTE Hal Leigh Brewster, second son of Henry and Laura Brewster, was born in Newnan just twenty-nine years ago and met his death at LaGrange on July 8th. Just two years ago his mother passed away. What a glorious meeting there will be of mother and son and grandmother on that beautiful shore! He was a noble, kind hearted man, always ready to help those in distress, the sick, the needy and the poor. Those who knew him loved him. His friends were numerous and they were bowed with great grief and mingled their tears of sympathy with loved ones around his casket. He had many friends among the colored people also. When he was shot, his servant, with tears streaming down his cheeks, tried to reach his side. The family servants were devoted to him because of his unfailing kindness and consideration for them. Kind friends bedecked his casket with beautiful floral offerings. He was a devoted brother, and his devotion to his father was beautiful. He now rests by the side of his mother whom he loved so well. Rest on, dear one, there shall be no more trouble for you. Some day we will understand why you were taken from us. Peace to your ashes.
