Dial's place, 4 miles west of Newnan, Walker Barrontine and his brother Jeff Barrontine became involved in a drunken row. Another brother, who was a witness to the difficulty, succeeded in separating the belligerants, after which Walker Barrontine left for his home a short distance away. No further trouble was anticipated, but in about half an hour Walker Barrontine returned with a shotgun and threatened to kill his brother Jeff. The father of the men arrived at this juncture and tried to take the gun from his son Walker, whereupont he latter turned upon his father and slashed him across the arm with a knife. Almost at the same moment he caught sight of his brother Jeff who was inside the house and before anyone could interfere, Walker put the gun through a window and shot him. The wounded man lingered until Monday morning about 8 o'clock when he died.
