OBITUARY

   On February 10th, 1896, Mrs. Rebecca Dial departed this life, in the 68th
year of her age, after many years of intense suffering from a disease that
proved to be incurable. During the paroxysms of coughing one would have thought
frequently that the end was at hand, yet she bore without murmuring for nearly
twenty years this dread disease, saying, "I am only waiting till the end comes."
   Mrs. Dial united with the church in early life, and for many years had been a
member of the Baptist church at New Lebanon, where she was highly esteemed as
one of its most consistent members. She leaves many relatives and friends, and a
large family of sons and daughters, to mourn her loss.
   A large procession of mourners and friends accompanied the corpse to Emory
Chapel, the place of interment. The funeral was preached by her pastor, Rev. R.
W. Hamrick, assisted by Rev. F. J. Amis, from the text-"Blessed are the dead
that die in the Lord."
   Mrs. Dial faithfully and lovingly executed the office of Christian, wife,
mother and neighbor.
   O. that we, her survivors, may emulate her example of self-denial,
consecration and Christian fortitude-that we may live as resignedly, and die as
composedly.           A FRIEND.

Additional Comments:
Rebecca Briscoe Wright married Doctor Washington Dial Apr 11, 1844 in Coweta
County, Georgia and they had thirteen children. They are buried at Emory Chapel
Cemetery - Coweta County, Georgia in unmarked graves.
