E. (Aunt Martha) Garrison, of Haralson, Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. She battled bravely against an incurable malady which would have taken her life long before it did, had she not fought so bravely to overcome it. The end came peacefully at her home about a month after she had passed her 80th birthday. Mrs. Garrison was born near Senoia where she lived until she was 21 years old; when she was married to the late James D. Garrison, of Haralson. Immediately after their marriage she came to Haralson with her husband where she lived until her death. Aunt Martha, as she was so well known, was truly “Haralson’s grand old woman.” No citizen of this community was ever loved and respected more than she, no better neighbor ever blessed a community, no life ever manifested more of the true Christian spirit that hers. She was a devout member of Harmony Universalist church near Senoia, and taking an active part in her church was one of her greatest joys. This community will ever feel very keenly the loss of this “grand old mother in Israel.” Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon the Rev. A. B. Sanders, of Senoia, officiating and the body of the departed saint was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Methodist cemetery, who preceded her to the grave 21 years ago. Deceased is survived by two step-sons, Mr. F. J. Garrison, of Fayetteville, and Mr. W. J. Garrison, of Haralson; eight step grandsons, Messrs. W. W. Reeves, W. E. Garrison, C. L. Garrison, C. L. Garrison (sic) and C. G. Garrison, of Atlanta; Mr. H. S. Reeves, of Fayetteville, and Messrs. J. T. and L. S. Newton, N. C., Mr. H. L. Garrison, of Garrison, of Haralson (sic). The Herald loses a warm friend in the passing of Mrs. Garrison as she kept the Herald coming to her home continuously for more than fifty years. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Additional Comments: Georgia Death Index Martha E.
