A great many had not even so much as heard of his illness. He was taken sick on Sunday night the 19th, and for a day or two, was thought to be doing very well, but he finally grew worse, gradually sinking until 6 o'clock Saturday morning the 25th of March, 1882, he breathed his last. He was at the time of his death about 75 years old, being one of the first settlers of Carroll county and for many years a good member of the Methodist church at Stripling's Chapel. On Sunday evening at 4 o'clock in the presence of a large crowd, the remains were laid away in their resting place. The burial services were performed by Rev. J.M. Griffin. He leaves a second wife and two little boys, together with his older children and many friends to mourn his death. ------ Mrs. W. G.
