Empire State – Spalding County – Week of December 16, 1857
Died at his residence in Coweta County, Ga., on the 27th of November, Nathan 
Ellis, leaving a family consisting of a wife and six children, he was 80 years, 
10 months and 15 days old, and he was a member of the Baptist Church for about 
40 years.  In passing the valley of the shadow of death his suffering were 
great but still, having the rod and staff of which David spoke and he feared no 
evil and he died in full hope of a blessed immortality.  W.J.E.
