She had been in feeble health for more than a year, it is said. About a week prior to her death she had a bad fall, causing a fracture of the hip-joint and rendering her helpless. She did not rally from this unfortunate mishap. Mrs. Herndon was 85 years of age, being the widow of the late Pressley A. Herndon, one of the county’s foremost citizens, who died twenty-five years ago. It was noted as a coincidence by members of the family that his death occurred on the same day of the month (March 9), as did that of his wife. Four children survive, viz: Mr. G. E. Herndon of Palmetto, Mrs. Olin Gullatt of Fairburn, Mrs. C. Y. Hall of La Grange, and Mr. P. A. Herndon of Akron, Ohio. There are also sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. After a brief service at the graveside, conducted Wednesday morning by Rev. T. M. Hammond, the body was laid to rest in the Stallings burying-ground, near the home of deceased. Additional Comments: Mrs. Anne Herndon is Ann Jones Amis Herndon, Mr. G. E. Herndon is Geter Edward Herndon, Mrs. Olin Gullatt is Ethel Ona Herndon Gullatt, and Mrs. C. Y. Hall is Modena Ann Herndon Hall.
