TRAIN NEAR CITY The crew of the early west bound passenger train on the A.B. & A. railroad Friday morning discovered the body of a man lying on the side of the track about two miles west of Roanoke. The train stopped and the crew brought the unfortunate man to the hospital in this city where he was found to be badly mangled. The negro was old and of defective sight and hearing. He stated that his name was Arthur Layton and that he was walking to Newnan, Georgia. He did not say where from. It is thought that he was struck by a night freight train, possibly trying to mount it. He died the following day. The body was prepared and held at the morgue of J.L. Dennis & Co. until arrangments were made for the burial on Tuesday, the county paying the expenses.
