FRIDAY, APRIL 5. TURIN It becomes our painful duty this week to chronicle the death of Mrs. Mary E. Moses, which occurred on Friday morning last, following a long illness. She was the widow of Hon. Ansley Moses, who died many years ago, and had passed her eightieth year. She had been a patient sufferer, and when the final hour came she was resigned, her heart overflowing with the joy anticipated in being re-united with loved ones who had preceeded her to the better land. She was a daughter of the late Chas. Leavell, one of Coweta's early residents. In her young days she united with Ebenezer Baptist church, and was ever a zealous worker in the Master's cause. When Turin Baptist Church was constituted she enrolled as a charter member, and continued this relationship until her death. She was the honored mother of five children - L. T. Moses, C. L. Moses, R. N. Moses, Mrs. V. A. Ham and Mrs. A. S. Jones - only two of whom survive. They are Judge l. T. Moses and Mrs. A. S. Jones. She was a sister of Mrs. H. S. Rees. Funeral services were held at Turin Baptist Church Saturday morning. Dr. S. b. Cousins officiated, who was assisted by Rev. J. F. Eden of Senoia, Rev. R. M. Stevens of Sharpsburg and Rev. H. S. Rees of Turin. Her remains were carried to Newnan, and after a brief burial service by Dr. J. S. Hardaway they were laid to rest in the family lot. A large concourse attended the funeral, and the floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. As she clasped the writer's hand for the last time she said, "We will meet over yonder on the heavenly shore." Dr. Camp and Mr. T. W. Methvin, of Senoia, and Judge P. M. Waltom, of Raymond, visited the writer's family the first of the week. Nice showers the past few days have caused vegetation to put forth rapidly. Some of our farmers are planning cotton. Good stands of corn everywhere, and it is looking well. April 3d (This clipping did not have a year on it but Mrs. Mary E. Moses died in 1918.)
