It has pleased God in his infinite wisdom, mercy and love, to sadden our hearts, by again calling from our midst one of our fellow mortals, to pass from our sight to a home beyond this life. On Mar. 15th, the death reaper visited the home of Bro. W.V. Brook and carried away his loving wife, Sister Elizabeth Brook, the gentle faithful loving companion of his boy-hood, leaving him the lonely and only member of the immediately family. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. I.N. Daniel at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, after which the remains of Sister Brook were carried and deposited in the cemetary(sic) among friends, relatives and loved one, there to rest in peace till the resurrection morn, when with body and soul reunited, she will join the blood washed throng, in the new Jerusalem, where there will be no more tears, no more death, neither sorrow nor crying. At the time of her death she was nearing her 68th birthday, having been born Aug. 7, 1840. She was married to Bro. W.V. Brook in Dec. 1860, then in her 20th year. At the age of 25, she followed her Lord into the liquid grave, was baptized into the followship(sic) of Bethlehem Baptist church, Coweta county, Ga. At the time of her death she was a member of Tyus Baptist church. Sister Brook leaves a husband, one son and a host of relatives and friends, who mourn her departure. She was the mother of three children; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Layton, who passed away about nine months before her own death, and Mrs. Ella Wade who preceeded her not hardly a month. Mrs. Brook was acquainted with sorrow in this life, she had to bid farewell to her only two daughters the last year of her life; but she did not mourn as those who have no hope. She expressed a resignation to God's will as she looked on the face of her last darling daughter. She lived a faithful, devoted life as a christian from the time of her conversion. Oh, how beautiful was her life; she followed the Saviour forty-three years. She was a tender compassionate mother, a cheerful, helpful neighbor. Oh, how she will be missed in the community, in the church and in the home. But it was God's will to take her. He knoweth what is best. May the Holy Spirit comfort and console the bereaved ones, and teach us to emitate(sic) the exemplary life she lived. Therefore be it resolved: 1st. That in the death of Sister Brook the church has sustained a deep loss, a useful member, the community a benevolent neighbor, the family a precious wife and mother. 2nd. That we bow in humble submission to God's righteous will, and extend to the sorrowing husband, son and relatives our deepest sympathy. 3rd. That a copy of the memorial be given the family, a copy be placed upon our record and a copy be sent to the publishers of the county papers for publication. Miss Ellen Tuggle Mrs. Delia Mosley W.M. Chambers Committee Additional Comments: Sarah Elizabeth (Moore) Brook was the daughter of Willis B. Moore and Hepsibah Adams.
