STRIPLING A source of grief to her many friends was the death Sunday night of Mrs. J. W. Stripling, which occurred at her home on Jackson Street, following a long illness—an illness watch, in fact reduced her to a state of almost helpless invalidism more than three years ago. Although a constant sufferer through that trying period she bore up bravely under her affliction, rarely complaining. About two weeks prior to her death she grew so much worse that her loved ones realized that the end was near. This occurred shortly before 11 o’clock Sunday night. Mrs. Stripling was 65 years of age. She leaves four splendid sons, F. W., J. C., Robert and Hal, to whom she was most tenderly devoted and who are inconsolable in their loss. Her husband passed away over a year ago. The funeral took place form the residence Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. The service was conducted by her pastor, Dr. E. W. Stone, who was assisted by Dr. C. W. Durden and rev. W. T. Irvin, following which the body was laid to rest in the family lot at Oak Hill. The pallbearers were Messrs. H. H. North, C. W. Farmer, H. L. Gamet, H. C. Pike, M E. Mooney, T. M. Vineyard, H. C. Arnall, Jr., and J. W. Kersey.
