This summary was composed in 1990 or 1991. The facts here are accurate except for the statement regarding his studies at Princeton, which were erroneously noted in State Archive records. Alexander, a great grandson of Thomas G. Alexander-second youngest son of J. Y. Alexander, in researching this man. We also found that Joseph's father, Abram Alexander, served in North Carolina Militia units during the Revolutionary War. His "declaration letter" outlining that service can be found on microfilm in the National Archives(S. E. branch).
