Her father, Silas Pennington, died while she was a toddler. He was a POW at Rock Island Barracks, Illinois. He died while in captivity 23 March 1864 and is buried there at the Confederate Cemetery. Ida married Charles Bartow Nixon on 4 January 1877. Ida and Charles are buried at Haralson United Methodist Church Cemetery in Haralson, Coweta Co., Georgia. They were the parent of 10 children: Dora Harrison "Minnie" Nixon (m. Patrick Henry Addy), Curtis M. Nixon (never married), Bloomer Julius Nixon (m.
