I Samuel Cannon of said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right and proper both as respects myself and my family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me I therefore make this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all other heretofore made by me. Item 1st I desire that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition. Item 2nd I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my Executor hereinwith named as I am unwilling my Creditors would be delayed of their rights especially as there is no necessity for delaying. Item 3rd I give and desire to my wife Anna Three hundred dollars and one bed and bedding and all that she brought my house besides the bed and bedding so far as relates to household furniture. Item 4th I give and desire to my daughter Kesiah Hancock and her children my negro girl named Emaline and her increase. Item 5th I give and desire my son James Five hundred dollars. Item 6th I give and desire to the children of my son John Five hundred dollars and do appoint said son John Cannon as Trustee to manage the money for his children. Item 7th I give and desire to my daughter Mary Middlebrook, Five hundred dollars. Item 8th I give and desire to myh son George W. Five hundred dollars. Item 9th I give and desire to my daughter Lucretia Hunt Five hundred dollars. Item 10th I give and desire to my son Samuel Six hundred dollars. Item 11th I give and desire to my son Benjamin S. Five hundred dollars. Item 12th I give and desire to the children of my daughter Temperence Savell One dollar. Item 13th I desire that after the above and foregoing legacies are paid that the balance that may be left shall be equally divided among my Legatees except my wife Anna and Temperence Savell. I desire that all of any property be sold by my Executor as soon as the Law will permit it to be sold. I constitute and appoint Samuel Cannon and James Cannon Executors to this my last will and testament this August 8th 1854. Samuel Cannon Witnesses were F. Drewry, ----White, Alex Peavy, and C.W. Culpepper.
