Smith, of the County and State aforesaid knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of Death and being of sound mind & disposing memory do for the purpose of disposing of my earthly goods after first resigned my Soul to him who gave it and my body to the Dust to be buried in a plain & decent manner do hereby make ordain publish & declare this my last Will & Testament. Item the 1st It is my desire that my Executors hereinafter named dispose of such of my property as they may deem best to discharge & pay off all of my just debts as soon as practical ~ Item 2nd I give & bequeath to my Wife Sarah Smith the sum of fifty dollars to be paid to her by my Executors as soon as possible after my death ~ Item 3rd It is my Will and desire that all my Estate both real and personal after the payment of my debts and the amount named in Item Second, to my Wife Sarah Smith to be equally divided between my children ~to wit~ Montgomery Pike Smith, Stephen Decatur Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Walton Hill Smith, Catherine Palistine Smith and Sarah Frances Smith & should I depart this life leaving other child or children~ for them to receive also an equal proportion of My Estate with the rest of my children naming in this Item. Item 4th It is my desire and request that my said Executor herein after named shall take charge of & make such arrangements for the taking care of my Children as they may deem best immediately after my Death. Item 5th I do hereby constitute and appoint Charles Smith, Mark Smith and Thomas Duke my Executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other Wills herein after made by Me.
