The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Georgia Coweta County In the name of God Amen, I James Watkins being of sound mind and disposing mind and disposing memory make this my last will and testament. 1st Item - It is my Will that all my just debts shall be paid. 2nd Item - I give and bequeath to my wife for and during her natural life the lot of land on which we now live except a half acre with the family burying ground in the center of it that I want to remain undisturbed forever. I also give to my daughter Margaret Boyd a piece on the South Side of my field twenty rods wide from the field to the branch that is South of her house. She to pay a fair price for all that is over one acre. I also give to my wife during her natural life my wagon buggy and harness all the plantation tools all the provisions that I may have on hand at the time of my death also all the money and notes all the cotton also two mules or horses two cows and calves all the hogs except two sows and pigs all the sheep except two ewes and lambs all the household and kitchen except one bed bedstead and the necessary clothes for the Same also all my Books. 3rd Item - I give and bequeath to my son L. B. Watkins one bed bedstead and the necessary clothing for the Same two cows and calves two sows and pigs two ewes and lambs all of his own choosing. 4th Item - It is my Will and desire that our son L. B. Watkins Shall stay with and take good care of his mother as long as she lives if he does it is my will that after her death he shall have in fee all that I have given to her for her natural life. Except the beds and clothing for the Same them I want to be equally divided among all of our children If he does not stay with and take care of her until her death it is my will that it shall be divided among my children as the balance of my Estate is or has been done- 5th Item - It is my Will that the residue of my estate not hereinbefore bequeathed be brought to Sale by my Executors and divided equally among my children Except the heirs of Lewis Watkins and James R. Watkins and E. P. Watkins the said Lewis Watkins and James R. Watkins having had of me four hundred dollars each the rest of them to receive that much each and if there is over that amount for each of others then the heirs of Lewis Watkins and James R. Watkins to come in and share Equally with the other in the remainder E. P. Watkins departed this life owing some money that he desired to be paid now it is my Will that the portion of my Estate that would have descended to him or his children be applied to the payment of these debts as far as it will go and it is my will that L. B. Watkins shall be first paid and if there is more than pays him the balance to be paid to my grand daughter Elzie Boyd and my grand son James L. Watkins and if there is any after they are paid the balance to be paid to E. P. Watkins children. 6th Item - I empower my Executor of this my last Will to dispose of my Estate publick or privately as they may think best for those interested without orders of court. 7th Item - I hereby constitute and appoint my sons William Watkins and Leander B. Watkins Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I James Watkins have this day October 9th, 1868 Signed and Sealed the above as my last Will and Testament, James Watkins (L.S) Signed Sealed published and declared by said James Watkins as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in the presence of each other subscribe the same.
